There are a number of reasons why we might become involved in a child's life. Usually it’s because someone gets in touch with us because they’re worried about the wellbeing of a child or young person they know. Sometimes it’s because there’s been an incident or emergency where the police have been involved.
Whatever the reason, we focus first and foremost on the needs of the child or young person. We work together with families and whānau to resolve any issues, and ensure whānau get the help and support they might need to provide a safe, stable and loving home.
How we keep children safe
Every case is different and complex – but the safety, well-being and best interests of the child or young person is our focus.
We look to provide early support for families and opportunities for whānau to care safely for their children.
