Caregiver Survey 2024
We want to make sure our caregiving whānau have the support they need to meet the needs of tamariki and rangatahi in their care so that they can heal and thrive.
The 2024 Caregivers Survery has closed
Since 2019, we’ve been asking caregivers through our annual survey to tell us how they feel about the support we offer and find out where we can do better.
In 2023, we heard:
- around half of surveyed caregivers felt satisfied with the support Oranga Tamariki provides and felt valued.
- half of surveyed caregivers felt prepared to become a caregiver and a third felt they did not get enough information.
- many of you are caring for children with support needs and have asked Oranga Tamariki for support, with over half of surveyed caregivers feeling this support was not enough.
The 2024 survey
We focus on improving the experiences of caregivers. This 2024 survey was a way they can have a voice on how we do so.
Feedback from the 2024 survey informed our work to adjust and improve the support to caregivers and the tamariki and rangatahi they support.
How Caregivers took part
We wanted to hear from all Oranga Tamariki caregivers. Whether they had a child in care or if had recently left the caregiving journey.
The 2024 Caregiver Survey was open for feedback from 7 – 28 October 2024.
Current caregivers were sent an email with a link to complete the survey online. We recommended they completed the survey using the link provided in that invitation.
Caregivers who did not receive an email invitation participated by providing additional information at the start of a public survey link.
Those unable to complete the survey online could complete the survey over the phone or using a paper copy to fill and return.
All survey data is securely held within the Oranga Tamariki Qualtrics survey platform and is kept confidential.
