Caregiver Survey 2024
We want to make sure our caregiving whānau have the support they need to meet the needs of tamariki and rangatahi in their care so that they can heal and thrive.
Since 2019, we’ve been asking caregivers through our annual survey to tell us how they feel about the support we offer and find out where we can do better. What we’ve heard is:
- Around half of surveyed caregivers felt satisfied with the support Oranga Tamariki provides and felt valued.
- Half of surveyed caregivers felt prepared to become a caregiver and a third felt they did not get enough information.
- Many of you are caring for children with support needs and have asked Oranga Tamariki for support, with over half of surveyed caregivers feeling this support was not enough.
This year’s survey
We are focusing on improving the experiences of caregivers, and this survey is a way for you to provide your voice.
Feedback from this year’s survey will inform the Oranga Tamariki quarterly report and how we can adjust and improve the support to caregivers and the tamariki and rangatahi they support.
How to take part
We’d like to hear from all Oranga Tamariki caregivers. Whether you have a child in care or if you’ve recently left the caregiving journey.
The 2024 Caregiver Survey is open for feedback from 7 – 28 October 2024.
Current caregivers have been sent an email with a link to complete the survey online. We recommend you complete the survey using the link provided in that invitation.
Caregivers who have not received an email invitation can participate by providing additional information at the start of the survey using this link:
If you are unable to complete the survey online, you can complete the survey over the phone, or we can send you a paper copy to fill and return. Request phone or paper survey options by emailing surveys@ot.govt.nz.
All survey data is securely held within the Oranga Tamariki Qualtrics survey platform and is kept confidential.
